The Section 8(a) SDB Program started in 1958 under the authority of Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act, as amended, and is administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA). The purpose of the program is to provide participants with access to a variety of business development services, including training, technical assistance, and contracting opportunities in the form of set-asides, sole-source, or on a limited competition basis.
